The Bombardier CRJ100 and CRJ200 aircraft was based on the Canadair Challenger design. In 1989, the company formed the Canadair Regional Jet program. The first of three development machines for the initial CRJ100 performed its first flight on 10 May 1991, with type certification and initial deliveries in late of 1992.
The CRJ200 is identical to the 100 model, expect for mor efficient engines. There are also extended range (ER) models available.
